It's been a long time coming, this solo EP from the female
half of The Potter's Field. I've been a
fan of Rochelle's voice since the first time I heard it. It's a strong voice,
it's big, it's memorable, it's confident.
She can take on a May Erlewine song and own it. That's not easy to do, but Rochelle does that
right off the bat on this EP on a wonderful take of "The River
Jordan"
She also does a lovely rendition of a song by her Potter's
Field partner, John Natiw called
"In Time." But Rochelle is not
a covers artist. She writes really
strong songs too. "Wish Me
Well" and "In Between" are songs I hope to hear her sing at
every live show from this point forward because they WILL stand the test of
time. And if she's feeling daring she
can include "Jericho "
in that set too. However, that "mighty
shout" she sings about in the latter half of the song (which would
probably blow out the ordinary singer's voice) might have to be saved for end
of the show.
She's anything but ordinary. This is an extraordinary debut.
